Aka dama tsuchi:
Akadama soil.
Type of soil used for bonsai; highly porous with excellent moisture retention
and allows air circulation.
盆栽に使う用土の種類のひとつ。
多孔質で水持ちがよく、空気の流通性に優れている用土。
単独では粒が崩れやすいので、３割程度の砂を配合すると良い。
[ Mizu ga ] Amai:
Sweet.
Refers to the amount of water applied; implies generous. To water sparingly
is called Karai (Hot or Pungent).
灌水量を言い表す言葉。
1日の水やりの回数が多いという意味。灌水量が少ない場合は水が辛いと表現する。

Ara kawa sho:
Tree with rough bark.
樹皮の荒れる性質。
Ara ki or ara gi:
Freshly dug tree or new tree.
Freshly dug tree promising as bonsai material.
Collected or field grown tree that is potted for the first time or a tree
that is to be trained for the first time.
山採り後で仮植え中のものや、畑上げものなどでまだ手が入れられていない、これから本格的に樹作りを始めようという素材のこと。

Atama / [ Ju ] Shin:
Head.
Crown or apex of the tree.
Considered the most important feature of the tree; treatment of the apex
determines deftness of the bonsai artist.
盆栽の頭部、樹冠部のこと。
頭をうまくまとめられるかどうかで、 その人の技量が図ることができるほど、盆栽にとって重要な部分。
