Vol.19.31.1  Method that writes the bonsai pot officially.


1. If that is unglazed in case, it records the color and kind of the clay. And if that is glazed in case, it records the kind of glazed color, or a tint.

2. Next it records the characteristic and form of the brim in the bonsai-pot.

3. Next it records the decoration characteristic style, and the shape of the flank.

4. Next it records the decoration characteristic foot style, and number of the foot.

5. Then, the whole characteristics in the shape of bonsai-pot are recorded at the end.

There are many cases that the above is usually omitted and written.

Aka e:
The decoration is from the flank.
Picture or illustration that wrote with the paint of red by iron that oxidized.

Ao kou chiyuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Milky blue glaze, or include creamy blue.



Ashi tsuki:
Footed
Dan-ashi,  Kimen-ashi,  Kiri-ashi,  Kumo-ashi,  Neko-ashi.

Bai ka shiki:
The shape is from upper looking.
It is the forms of the flowers of 5 petals.


*
Byo uchi:
The decoration is from the flank.
The thumbtack form decoration that is attached to under, or upper,
or both sides.
Taiko-doh.

Cho hou:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Rectangular"

Dou himo:
The decoration is from the flank.
Belt form decoration that is attached to the center.

Da en:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Oval"

Dan ashi:
The shape is from the foot.

Fukuro shiki:
The decoration is from the flank.
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
The sack form decoration thing that is attached to upper side.

Gaku iri:
The decoration is from the flank.
Square frame as the decoration.



Ge hou:
The shape is from the flank.
The height is higher than the width.
This use for  the cascade style.
= Kengai-Bachi

Go sai:
Glazed color, or a tint. The decoration is from the flank.
Picture or illustration that wrote with the paint of 5 colors.
Red, blue, yellow, green, purple.

Hachi [ Asa bachi,  Chu buka bachi,  Fuka bachi,  Ken gai bachi
Bonsai-pot. [ Terminology that shows the degree of the depth. ]

Asa-bachi : Shallow  dish.  
Chu buka bachi : The ratio of the height and width are about 1-4.
Fuka-Bachi : The ratio of the height and width are about 1-2. The height is the near or less as width.
Kengai-Bachi : The height is more higher than the width. This use for the "Kengai = Cascade".

Hachi kaku:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Octagon"

Hachi ana:
Bottom hole for the drainage.

Haku ji:
Glazed color, or a tint.
White celadon porcelain.
China made by Kaolin that does not include the impurities. 
It is vitrification, a little light is passed.

Jin gasa gata:
The shape is hat of an old Japanese Samurai combatant.
It is a circle when sees it from the top.



Ju bachi:
Pot for the Bonsai.

Ken mo kkoh shiki:
The shape is from upper looking.
Relation is pointed even from normal "Mokkohshiki".

Ki kkoh gata:
The shape is from upper looking.
Long hexagon form, it resembles in the carapace of the tortoise.


*
Ki kou chi yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Milky yellow glaze.


*
Ki men ashi:
The shape is from the foot.
It is the decoration that designed the face of angry God.


*
Kin yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Milky blue glaze.
Copper milky blue in reduction firing.

Kiri ashi:
The shape is from the foot.


*
Ki ttate:
The shape is from the flank.
No edge. Angular interior.



Ko bachi:
Pot for the Shohin-Bonsai.
This is the pot of the small size for shohin-bonsai.

Ko kyou gata:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Kokyou" is the shape of an old Japanese Mirror.



Ko watari, naka watari, shin toh, shinshin toh, Tai sho watari,
Hei sei watari:
Terminology that shows the degree of the oldness of the period that was made.
Shina-bachi: Terminology that shows the oldness pot made in China.

Kumo ashi:
The shape is from the foot.
Decoration form of the flowing cloud.

Maru:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Circle or Round".

Maru buchi, Tama buchi:
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
The brim is shaped rounded.


*
Mizu kiri:
The shape is from the flank.
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
Sharp drop in brim level, or difference in brim level.
Because the sprinkling does not overflow to the outside, in the
pot of big size.


*
Mo kkoh shiki:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Mokkoh".
This is from one of Japanese family-crest that modeled
on Japanese Quince.

Nade kaku:
The shape is from upper looking.
The shape is rounded with corners.


*
Namako yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Blue striped glaze.
Namako is a sea cucumber.


*
Nan ban:
Unglazed color, or a tint.
The producing district of it is Southeast Asian country.
It is using the clay that pebble mixed.


*
Nawa buchi:
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
The brim is shaped like a rope.


*
Neko ashi:
The shape is from the foot.
The form of the foot like a cat. 


*
Nishiki te / Kin ran te:
Glazed color, or a tint.
The decoration is from the flank.
Picture or illustration that wrote with the paint of gold and 5 colors.
Red, blue, yellow, green, purple and gold.

Obi fuchi:
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
The brim is shaped like a belt.

Ra kkan:
Signature


*
Ri hi dei:
Unglazed color, or a tint.
Pear's skin clay.
Dotted with white. Speckled with white-beige.

Rin ka shiki:
The shape is from upper looking.
Designed like a sunflower.


*
Rok kaku:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Hexagon"


*
Ru ri yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Blue glaze.
Cobalt dark-blue or deep-blue glaze.

San go yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Red coral color.

Sei hou:
The shape is from upper looking.
"Square"


*
Sei ji:
Celadon porcelain. Azure glaze.
China that made by "Kaolin" = broken stone.
It is vitrification, a little light is passed.

Light blue color of the iron included to clay and glaze, the color is caused by re-firing in a reduction atmosphere.

Sei ji:
Celadon porcelain. Azure glaze.
Porcelain clay that made by "Soil" including a little iron.
It is sintering, light is not passed.
For the bonsai this method of manufacture is more desirable.

Sei ji yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Celadon porcelain color.
Azure glaze.

Shi dei:
Unglazed color, or a tint.
Coffee color.

Shin sha yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Red color of the copper that is caused the returning flame by effects of oxygen insufficient.

Shiro kou chi yuu:
Glazed color, or a tint.
Milky white glaze, or include cream.


*
Shita himo:
The decoration is from the flank.
Thin-belt form decoration that is attached to under.


*
Shita obi:
The decoration is from the flank.
Belt form decoration that is attached to under.

So ba yuu: 
Glazed color, or a tint.
Mixing yellow-brown glaze.

Some tsuke:
The decoration is from the flank.
Picture or illustration that wrote with the paint of cobalt dark-blue.

Soto en:
The shape is from the flank.
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
It is the form that pushes in the brim to outside.
Outer edge.



Sumi kiri:
The shape is from upper looking.
It is the form that cut the corners.

Sumi iri:
The shape is from upper looking.
It is the form that pushes in the corner to inside.



Sha mi doh:
The shape is from the flank.
Form of the musical instrument of Japanese "Syami-sen".

Shu dei:
Unglazed color, or a tint.
Vermilion clay.

Tai ko doh:
The decoration is from the flank.
It is a circle when sees it from the top.
The under and upper sides even more intermediate part big.
The shape is the musical instrument of Japanese "Taiko-drum".
The thumbtack form decoration that is attached to under and upper both sides.

Tan zaku gata:
The shape is from upper looking.
Width a long oblong.
This shape is wider than "Choho".


*
Teppatsu:
The shape is from the flank.
It is a circle when sees it from the top.
It is the form that pushes in the brim to inside.
Form of the bowl of Japanese "Zen-souryo".

Uchi en:
The shape is from the flank.
Decoration of the brim of the bonsai pot.
It is the form that pushes in the brim to inside.
Inner edge.

U dei:
Unglazed color, or a tint.
It is the color of the ash of after that the tree burnt.
Dark beige color.
